The San Francisco Gay Flag Football League (SFGFFL) has been fostering a love of football and creating a welcoming queer space for over 20 years. Originally formed informally in 1998, the SFGFFL officially became a league in 2010 and is proud to operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Open to players of all skill levels—from seasoned athletes to first-time participants—the SFGFFL is more than just a sports league. It’s a vibrant fellowship for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies, built on inclusivity, camaraderie, and the shared passion for the game.
The San Francisco Gay Flag Football League (SFGFFL) is an organization that fosters a community for the LGBTQIA+ individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area through the positive social and athletic enjoyment of flag football. Through flag football, we empower our players and our surrounding communities to reach their goals as athletes, teammates, friends, and leaders, regardless of level, skill, knowledge, or ability. We actively create a safe space for members of the San Francisco Bay Area LGBTQIA+ community to feel included in flag football.
The San Francisco Gay Flag Football Leagues (SFGFFL) are committed to fostering an environment of diversity. No individual shall be excluded from participating in any of the Leagues' activities on the basis of sexual orientation, age, creed, gender, race, religion, socio-economic status, nationality, ethnic origin, political beliefs, athletic ability, physical challenge, disability, HIV status, marital status, military status, or gender identity.
The San Francisco Gay Flag Football league is proudly part of a much larger National Gay Flag Football league, the NGFFL
